Your First Visit
A little preparation helps us make the most of your consultation. Here's what to bring and what to expect.
What to bring
- Any previous prescriptions, discharge summaries or operation notes.
- Recent test reports and scans (ultrasound, endoscopy, CT/MRI films or CDs).
- A list of your current medicines and their doses.
- Details of any allergies and past surgeries.
- Your health-insurance card and a photo ID (if you plan to use insurance).
How to prepare
You don't usually need to fast for a first consultation. If you take regular medication (for blood pressure, diabetes, blood thinners, etc.), continue as normal unless told otherwise, and please mention them.
During your consultation
Dr. Pitroda will take a detailed history, examine you, and go through your reports. He'll explain the diagnosis, answer your questions, and — if needed — recommend further tests or discuss treatment options. Do bring a family member if it helps you feel comfortable.
Questions worth asking
- What is causing my symptoms?
- Do I need surgery, and can it be done by keyhole (laparoscopy)?
- What are the benefits, risks and recovery time?
- What will it cost, and is it covered by my insurance?
How long it takes
A first consultation usually takes 15–30 minutes. Arriving a few minutes early helps us start on time.
