Piles (haemorrhoids) are swollen blood vessels in and around the anal canal. They are extremely common and often improve with simple measures, but persistent bleeding, pain or prolapse may need a procedure.
What laser treatment involves
Laser haemorrhoidoplasty uses precise laser energy to shrink the haemorrhoidal tissue through a tiny opening, without large cuts or stitches. Because the surrounding tissue is preserved, many patients experience less post-operative pain and a faster recovery than with conventional surgery.
Possible advantages
- Usually a day-care procedure.
- Minimal wounds and often less bleeding.
- Quicker return to routine for many patients.
Is it right for you?
Laser is one of several effective options, and it is not suitable for every case. A proper proctology assessment helps decide between laser, stapler or conventional techniques based on the grade and type of your condition. Fissures and fistulas are separate problems that may also be treated with laser in selected cases.
